Response and responsibility: the role of universities in a more sustainable future

What role do universities have in driving a more sustainable future? This session explores the role of Universities in contributing to sustainability, through education, research, outreach, and the estate and operations, and focuses on the role of partnerships and collaboration in leveraging the potential of universities to drive change from the local to the global scale.

Biography

Zoe has a BSc in Geography and Geology, and a PhD in Glacial Groundwater Systems, and is now a Professor in Sustainability at Keele, having started at Keele in 2004 as a Lecturer in Physical Geography, following a period of time working in Environmental Consultancy as a Geologist/Hydrogeologist.

Rather than aligning with a particular discipline Zoe aligns herself with the emerging field of ‘Sustainability Science’, which centres around finding solutions to problems of ‘unsustainability’ rather than around specific disciplines.
