Dr Michaela Kendall (Adelan CEO, Birmingham, UK and UK Hydrogen Champion at Mission Innovation) worked in the hydrogen economy for 30 years and now runs one of the world’s earliest fuel cell businesses. Adelan works to commercialise a low carbon, clean fuel cell technology (SOFC). Dr Kendall managed industrial R&D programmes at Adelan funded by the US, EU and Chinese governments. She started her career as an environmental scientist tackling air pollution in London (Imperial College), before building an international career to address the energy trilemma; the emissions, security and cost of energy. Faculty positions in America, Asia and Europe enabled Dr Kendall to work with powerful strategic policy networks and businesses at the US EPA, the UN, the NIEHS, HEI, NYU in New York and UNIDO Hydrogen Centre in Istanbul, Turkey. She holds Visiting Prof positions at UK universities and is building a national UK fuel cell strategy that takes best practice from successful examples of policy making in the global hydrogen economy. Her goal is to build the widest international coalition to realise the ambitions of global hydrogen and fuel cell pioneers to reach net zero.
