Pre- Conference Drinks Reception – Gallery Suite NEC

Having had an enforced break from the conference for 2 years it was truly amazing to see the growth in interest for the 2021 event. It was frustrating to sell out of both Exhibition stand spaces and Delegate places and have to refuse people entrance to the event. We have therefore extended the space we will be occupying for 2022 but we are still at the NEC.

This well-established and highly respected event will be in it’s 18th year and will look as always at both the Hydrogen Economy and  the range of applications for Fuel Cells. Sessions will focus on the Production, Distribution and Use of Hydrogen. Market demand for hydrogen will cover Transport Applications as well as Remote and Stationary Power.

See the full programme below with further details of the speakers and their presentations being found with a click on their photos below

We are delighted to be collaborating on the event  with the U.K.H.F.C.A. this year. The aim being to grow the event still further, creating an even better showcase for the Industry.

If you want to get in touch re any aspect of the conference please contact:

Low Carbon Contracts

LCCC manages the Contract for Difference (CfD) scheme, which has been massively successful in encouraging development of much of the UK’s larger scale low carbon projects, from Offshore Wind to Biomass and new Nuclear. The success of the CfD scheme as a mechanism for driving the UK’s Net Zero ambitions means its use is expanding beyond low carbon electricity, to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Low Carbon Hydrogen. LCCC are engaging in advisory work for development of a Hydrogen Business Model with BEIS as a potential counterparty for the contracts – as such, LCCC are uniquely placed to offer support to renewable developers in relation to existing and upcoming government business models based on the CfD, which are designed to support the UK’s transition to Net Zero.”

The powertrain consists of a 12kWh lithium battery (up to 60miles range) and fuel cell range extender (3.5kW to 10kW) giving a further 170miles from the onboard hydrogen store of 1.8kg H2 @ 350bar (700bar available). The vehicle is lightweight (750kg) using a bonded aluminium chassis and composite body giving very high overall efficiency (average 125Wh/km). Ideal for urban last mile delivery with a top speed of 55mph through a brushless AC motor. The vehicle has been designed for the Circular Economy and a predicted 20 year lifespan, with periodic remanufacture of systems at managed intervals (see Ecobulk.eu). Within the ATF HySMART project, new Printed Circuit Board (PCB) fuel cells from Bramble Energy UK are being integrated into the Vianova. The novel PCB fuel cells offer a route to lower cost mass manufacture, helping to bring fuel cell vehicles into a cost competitive range.

Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2)

Clean Power Hydrogen (CPH2) manufactures the unique Membrane-Free Electrolyser™ producing green hydrogen in a simple, safe, and sustainable manner, and at any scale.

CPH2 is a dynamic and innovative company dedicated to providing the best solution possible for producing green hydrogen and pure medical-grade oxygen. We have advanced the development of hydrogen as green energy by demonstrating a new form of production without using Platinum Group Metals. To do this, we have taken a unique approach. By marrying cryogenic separation, a well-established technology, with our patented Membrane-Free Electrolyser™, we have developed a cost-effective alternative to alkaline and PEM electrolysis.

The CPH2 technology reduces cost, complexity, and safety risk due to membrane failure. As a scalable system, our technology is suited to many applications encouraging the lowering of barriers to wide-scale adoption and accelerating the progress towards a zero-carbon future.

Coventry University

Future lives for hydrogen fuel cells  – How can circular economy principles extend the functional life of hydrogen fuel cells?

Future lives for hydrogen fuel cells is a collaborative project between Coventry University, circular economy consultants Oakdene Hollins, fuel cell technology innovators Microcab industries, and Aston University, supported by the UK Manufacturing Symbiosis Network+.

The project is investigating value retention of fuel cells using two approaches. It is monitoring fuel cell degradation to predict the point at which fuel cells are no longer viable in automotive use, but would be valuable in other industries. At the same time, circular economy business models are being used to identify potential second life applications in other industrial sectors.

The exhibition provides an opportunity to discuss the ideas raised in the research with a wider audience

Hydrogen Afloat

Our domestic power unit is designed to integrate beautifully with your boat.  It is roof mounted because of the importance of ventilation for hydrogen gas safety.  The fuel cell unit has an integrated battery charger that manages the charge current and voltage to optimise the life of your domestic batteries.  The system will integrate with any solar panels that you may have, reducing gas consumption when the sun does shine.  The fuel cell has two operating modes – a manual control and an automatic mode where it will monitor battery voltage and start automatically at a voltage that can be adjusted to match your battery type.

The unit is 2.3m long and 460mm tall.  It will accommodate two hydrogen storage options;

Two hydrogen Genie® cylinders (54G20) that each contain 454g of hydrogen. One can be in use whilst the other is held in reserve.  Each cylinder has sufficient stored energy to generate 6.5kWh of DC power.

One GenieMax® cylinder (54G46V) that will store nearly 1kg of hydrogen when pressurized to 300 bar.  This is sufficient to generate 15kWh of DC power.

The gas storage cylinders are hired from BOC, a Linde company, and refilled by exchange at one of their Gas and Gear centres.

It is anticipated that other suppliers of gas will become available as hydrogen is more widely adopted in society.

The unit is designed to be removeable from the roof if needed, and incorporates both boat interior ventilation and passive fire protection.

Our product is being launched on the 2nd June 2022 at the Crick Boat show.
